Project updates and such…

Well I figured I better at least get some projects posted before I totally forget about them.  I finished up the Felted Baguette by Isela Phelps.  It was a fun and easy pattern to follow.  I had to improvise a little as I didn’t buy enough Noro yarn on vacation, so I found some that seemed suitable in my stash.    This is how it turned out.  I use it as my knitting bag which works out great!  I am also working on Isela’s Rowan Handbag.  I love the tapering of this bag.  I have the bag itself done.  I just needs to be sewn up and  the strap to finish, but I have other projects that have taken the priority.  I had a shrug I made for my Voci performance on Monday and Tuesday.  This was needle knit and it turned out okay…the sleeves were a little long.  Oh well.  Speaking of Tuesday, Scott and I celebrated our 13th Wedding Anniversary.  He bought me a dozen long-stemmed red roses.  I guess he really does love me.

I am also working on a design for a purse for Markman Farms Spring Pattern contest.  I am inviting you all to stop by her website and vote for your favorite pattern.  She should have the poll up this weekend.  I have two patterns up (or will)  one for Simple Fingerless Mitts and the other for my Midnight Sky Purse (picture coming soon).  The fingerless mitts I taught on Lynn’s Beginning Loom Knitting Class this week.  I am either a good teacher (hahaha) or not many are doing the class.  It has been so quiet.  Not many questions.  It has been fun and I hope to teach some more classes again.  I will be teaching an afghan square for Loom Class in June which will entail lace knitting.

For those of you who like to design, I am taking submissions for the 2009 Loom Knit Dishcloth Calendar until August 31st.  Check out the submission guidelines and submit them as soon as possible.

Well I think I have finally ran out of things to say.  I am going to enjoy our very warm, summer like weather ,this weekend and work on my tan, in addition to showing my rabbits.  I am hoping to get another leg on my  polish bunny Zorro.  He managed to pick up one last weekend for Best of Opposite Sex Breed under judge Kevin Rudolph.  Just 2 more to go and I can grand him.  Go Zorro!  Here are the three babies we had 3 1/2 weeks ago, which I will leave you with.  Their father is Marshmellow and Breezy calls them Mini Marshmellows. Aren’t they the cutest?

And the winner is….

The day you have been waiting for to find out who guessed the right amount of dishcloths in the stack….well, I have 2 winners who guessed the correct amount.  19 dishcloths!  Keggy will be receiving the printed copy and Kansas will be receiving the downloadable copy.  Thank you all for playing it was fun!

On the crafting/looming side, I was lucky enough to test knit a pattern for the March LAL on Ravelry’s Loomin Dishcloths group for Karen G.  We are doing colorwork for March and the pattern she has designed is sooo cute!  I’ll post a picture of the cloths as soon as I get her okay to (and I get them finished)

Have a great weekend!

Contest Time & projects finished

SmileyCentral.com Happy 2nd Blog Anniversary to me. I can hardly believe it has been two years already. With that I have a little something for those of you that read my blog. I am going to run a little contest. What’s the contest you say? 2008 Loom Knit Dishcloth Calendar CoverWell it’s an easy one….just guess how many dishcloths there are in the picture. Prize is the 2008 Loom Knit Dishcloth Calendar. Just email me your guess (smcelheran at gorge dot net) and put blog contest in the subject line and you could be the lucky winner of this great calendar. It is filled with great designs from Lynn Markman, Janice Haley, Karen Gielen and myself.  I will take guesses through February 28th and announce the winner on February 29th!  Good Luck!!!

Dishcloths for contest

Cabled MittCabled Mitt PairOn the creative end of things, I finished up the Cabled Mitt Pattern from Isela Phelps that we did on Ravelry for February’s Loom-A-Long. What a fun pattern and definitely something to challenge a person especially if they have never done cables before. These mitts will go with the hat I finished from Isela’s booklet Learn to Knit Cables on Looms.

Cion Earflap HatThe hat is the Cion Earflap Hat. It turned out okay for my first attempt at cables on looms. I think my next project from the book will be the shawl. I think I want to try a little lace with some cables and give it away as a prayer shawl.

Well enough babbling….have a great weekend!

The calendar is finally done!

I’ve been mising in action for the last couple week, busy writing patterns and testing looming them for the 2008 Loom Knit Dishcloth Calender.   I am so glad it is done and boy what a project!  I can’t wait until next years though.  I hope you like it as much as I do.   Check back later today or tomorrow.  It should be up for sale.  I am having a dickens of a time trying to get the file uploaded as it is big…graphic intense.  I will have the link set up on my “For Sale” page.

Loom Knit Dishcloth Calendar, Part 2

This is exciting.  It looks like there is interest in this.  Now comes your part, if you so choose.  I am looking for designers for these cloths.  Please email me smcelheran @ gorge.net (take out spaces) and let me know if you are interested and I will email you some guidelines for submission.  Those designs chosen for the calendar will also be compensated.  So get on your designing hats and lets get to work.  Deadline to submit is November 16.

Calendar clarification

If this idea comes to be, the hard copy would be printed on glossy heavy cardstock and spiral bound with a different pattern with picture for each month. There would be a total of 12 patterns plus tips.  It would also be done by a printer and not me.  I would do the layout, etc then send it on.
